Dental Tourism in Varanasi!
I recently had a very positive experience in Varanasi where I had some dental work done. I'm from the U.S. and I've been visiting, and often living, in Varanasi studying music since the mid 80s. If I ever needed dental work done I always went to the bigger cities since there were simply no good dentists to be found in Varanasi. This year I was pleasantly surprised to find a new and very good dentist and oral surgery clinic right in Varanasi. I had a root canal and crown put in for a fraction of what I would have payed in the states (like so many Americans, I'm uninsured). I also know other westerners who had major surgery done there and they were all impressed with the results. The facilities are completely modern and clean. I was even given a skin test to see if I was allergic to the anesthetic, something I've never even had done in the west. They have a nice website listing all of their services and prices:

I mention this because, while India has long had many good dentists, I believe this is the first of it kind in Varanasi, which is such a popular place for tourists. It's also one of the cheaper areas to visit in India. If anyone is planning a trip to the holy city and you need some dental work done, this is a great way to do them both and save a lot of money.
